Lesley Stewart

Biography: 

Lesley Stewart has been Director of CRD since 2006. Her research interests are in the development and application of evidence synthesis methods, particularly systematic review and individual participant data (IPD) meta-analysis. She helped establish the methodology and framework for IPD reviews and has completed many such international collaborative projects in cancer and other areas. She was a founding member of the Cochrane Collaboration, has co-convened the IPD Meta-analysis Methods Group since inception and chairs the PRISMA-IPD Steering Group.

She has long-standing interest in research transparency and data sharing and is currently working with colleagues in Cochrane to increase access to and use of clinical trial data from regulatory submissions. Lesley leads CRD’s methodology research programme and IPD synthesis within Health Technology Assessment. She is a member of the NICE Highly Specialised Technology Committee, Co-Editor in Chief of the BMC journal Systematic Reviews and is currently President of the International Society for Research Synthesis Methods.
