Biography: 

Alexandra Barratt is a Professor of Public Health in the School of Public Health, University of Sydney. She is an epidemiologist with an internationally recognised track record of research into the benefits and harms of breast cancer and prostate cancer screening, including overdiagnosis. She is currently a Co-Chair of Preventing Overdiagnosis, an international collaboration dedicated to improving patient outcomes, and reducing harms and waste in healthcare by addressing overdiagnosis and overtreatment in health services. She also has extensive experience in the development and evaluation of patient decision aids to support evidence-based, shared decision making in a range of contexts including cancer screening and women’s health.
